Brood Exchange started with a love for chickens and a rainbow basket dream.
Like many backyard chicken lovers, I fell in love with the idea of collecting eggs in every color imaginable—blues, greens, creams, speckled eggs, whites, and, of course, those dark chocolatey browns. But finding those dreamy colors isn't always easy. Breeders spend years perfecting egg color genetics, and tracking down those special breeds can be difficult.
I spent countless hours searching websites, scrolling through Facebook groups, browsing sellers on eBay, and trying to figure out which sellers were trustworthy and which ones weren't. After narrowly avoiding a few scams and spending hours getting lost in searches, I decided there had to be a better way.
That's where the idea for Brood Exchange started. I have an amazing husband who helped bring the idea to life by building the website.
My goal was to create one place where people could go to find rare breeds and amazing egg colors. I wanted to build a community where breeders could show off their breeding programs and the incredible breeds they have created. A place where all of the chicken communities could connect and where people could easily discover what's out there.
That is how Brood Exchange was born.
What started as a search for my own perfect rainbow basket grew into a much bigger vision: creating a trusted marketplace for the poultry community. A place where buyers can easily find quality hatching eggs and where breeders can showcase the incredible work they put into their flocks.
My goal is to create a community and a one-stop shop where you can find what you need to grow your flock.
I have big dreams and ambitions for the future of Brood Exchange. We hope to expand beyond chickens and add more species like waterfowl, emus, guineas, and quail. We'd also love to offer genetic testing and breed verification. Eventually, our goal is to include live chick sales as well.
